Journal Prompts for Self-Reflection

✍🏼 “Journaling is like whispering to one’s self and listening at the same time.” – Mina Murray

For years people have turned to writing as a way to express themselves, create stories and share knowledge but it can also be considered theraputic as it helps many people discover themselves through journaling. Don't just take my word for it, there is scientific evidence that journaling removes mental blocks and allows you to use all of your brainpower to better understand yourself, others and the world around you. The best part is that it is FREE and there are no rules.

I write every now and then because life happens. When I do get a moment to myself, I like to write my thoughts down and I realize how much I miss myself! I get so caught up in work, school, family matters that I don't get a chance to talk to myself. Everything exists inside ourselves so looking within is where we find peace.

If you are ready to dive deep into yourself, look no further.

Here are 5 writing prompts I have used to help you get started.

  1. Write a letter to your inner child.

  2. I think the first step is to go back in time and write to your younger self. Write what comes to mind.
  3. Reflect on how you have changed since 5 years ago.

  4. Looking back and realizing how far you have come or what hasn't changed is a good way to know where you are at in this moment.
  5. When you are feeling down, what picks you up?

  6. You need to understand what makes you happy and how you uplift yourself.
  7. What would you do if you knew you could not fail?

  8. This one is perfect for realizing your inner most desire and what you can do if fear wasn't holding you back.
  9. What excites you about the future?

  10. Figure out what motivates you and hold on to those thoughts.

I hope that these can help you know yourself more and that you will continue to journal. If you need more inspiration check out this helpful article , it has over 100 writing prompts.
