It all started in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, on the island of Moorea. Here, coral reefs shape our lives below and above the surface of the ocean. We owe them everything: from every single wave we surf to every bite of food we eat and every breath of air we take. We restore the most damaged reef areas around the world by empowering local communities and teaming up with local and global experts and scientists.
Oceana was established by a group of leading foundations — The Pew Charitable Trusts, Oak Foundation, Marisla Foundation (formerly Homeland Foundation), Sandler Foundation, and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund — after a 1999 study they commissioned discovered that less than 0.5 percent of all resources spent by environmental nonprofit groups in the United States went to ocean advocacy.
About the Coder
Hi, I'm Gianna! I am an educator for ESL Young Learners and Adult
Learners. 👩🏫 I have been teaching for six years. My teaching experiences
have grown in the Philippines 🇵🇭 and currently, I am teaching and living
in Japan 🇯🇵. I am an English major, ands has great love for books. 📚 I
am also a licensed diver 🤿 and have seen the wonders of Bali and
Okinawa waters. My love for diving led me to advocate about ocean and
marine life conservation. 🐟
As part of my personal growth, I'm venturing on learning more about
coding, and so far, it has been interesting, and fun. I'm looking
forward to learning more about it here on SheCodes.
