My Journey with Chemical Exfoliants

Deviant's Gentle Resurfacing Liquid

For the past ten or so years, I have always used manual exfoliants, such as apricot scrub. A friend of mine recently started a highly popular skin care blog, and I have been following the information she has put out with great interest. It is here that I first learned about the concept of chemical exfoliation.

Chemical exfoliation refers to the "use of acids that react with the skin to remove built-up layers of dead skin cells and excess oil". This process allows for faster skin generation, rejuvenation of dull skin and elimination of blemishes. There are two principal types of acids that are used for this: AHAs (alpha-hydroxy acids) and BHAs (beta-hydroxy acids). They each target different skin needs. AHAs have an exfoliating effect, increasing the loss of dead skin cells, and help to stimulate collagen production. BHAs are good at fighting bacteria and penetrate much deeper into the skin than AHAs.

On my friend’s recommendation, I started using Deviant’s Gentle Resurfacing Liquid, which has a combination of AHAs and BHAs, as well as other cool ingredients like Green Tea and Licorice. I have been using it for a month and I can already see a visible change, my skin is much clearer, more supple and less congested. I would highly recommend it.
