West Coast Trail Packing List

When you're packing your bag to go hiking, less is more. However, you certaintly need some. Therefore, I've made this helpful list to help you put things into your backpack!

💤 Sleep and Shelter

Sleeping Bag (and optional Compression Sack)
Sleeping Pad
Packable Pillow (optional)
Tent (and tent stakes)
Tent footprint (optional)
Tarp (optional)

🥄 Camp Kitchen

Water Bottles or Hydration Reservoir (2L total)
Single Burner Backpacking Stove (and Fuel and Lighter)
Plate or Bowl
Trusty Spork
Food
Water Filtration System (and backup Aquatabs)
Mug
Pot Set
Dishcloth/scraper
Dry Bags (and cord and caribiner to hang)

🎒 Gear

36-60L Backpack (and rain cover or trash bag to use as a liner)
Stuff Sacks (or sealable plastic bags to organize your belongings)
Hiking Boots (or Trail Runners)
Gaitors (optional but highly recommended)
Trekking Poles
Hiking Permit (in sealed plastic bag)
Tide Chart (in sealed plastic bag)
GPS (and/or map)

🩹 Safety gear

Headlamp (with extra batteries/a power bar)
First Aid Kit
Sunscreen, Sunglasses and Hat
Knife
Bear Spray
Repair Kits (for tent and sleeping pad)
Prescription medication
Trip Plan (left with a friend and an optional SOS device)

🩳 Clothing

Hiking Socks
Undergarments (underwear, sports bra, base layers)
Shirt (1-2)
Shorts or Pants
Puffy Jacket or Fleece Sweater
Rain Gear (pants and jacket)
Toque or Buff
Dry Sleep Clothes
