Koalas are marsupials not bears! Although they are still mammals, they have a pouch just like a kangaroo for their young to complete their development. A koala’s diet consists of only eucalyptus leaves, they can consume up to two and a half leaves a day. Eucalyptus trees are more than the koala’s primary food source it is also their home. Koalas are not yet on the endangered species list, but the population is dwindling fast. The population has gone down a shocking 90 percent in the last decade due to deforestation. These cute helpless creatures need our help to ensure they do not go endangered!
