Anni Albers (1899-1994) was born in Berlin, Germany.
She studied weaving at the Bauhaus, a German school known for its
theory of combining aesthetics with function. She made textiles and
paintings and the mediums informed and influenced one another. Her work
explores geometry, rhythm and repetition.
Sonia Delaunay (1885-1979) was born in Hradyz'k, Ukraine.
Her work focuses on geometric abstraction. She made paintings and also designed clothing.
She co-founded the Orphism movement in art, noted for its geometric shapes and bold colors.
