To maximize your productivity, you must first examine your current
habits and identify the areas for improvement. Productivity doesn't
always mean being busy, rather getting stuff done in
the most efficient way possible. We often stick to what we know because
for the most part, it works. However, optimizing your productivity can
have a huge impact on your task list, career and overall feeling of
achievement. Here are some tips to improving your productivity:
Brain Dump
Write down all of the tasks that you need to get done in the day, then
prioritize them in order of most important to least important.
Stop Multitasking
A lot of us feel as though we're doing multiple tasks at once, but
that's actually not possible. Our brain rapidly switches between tasks
rather than doing both, meaning we're not really focused on either
one. For maximum efficiency, focus on one task at a time before
switching your attention.
Split Up Your Time
The human mind can only concentrate efficiently for a certain amount
of time. Different researchers have found different numbers for this,
though it really depends on the person. Splitting your time up into
work periods and breaks allows you to maximize your time and
efficiency, making you more productive.
Eliminate Distractions
Whilst this one may seem really obvious, it's very difficult to do.
Shutting off your phone or placing it in another room, closing all
unnecessary apps and even working in silence if that's how you're the
most productive. Distractions mean your brain isn't focusing on the
task at hand, so take note of what distracts you and find ways to
eliminate those distractions.
