In the pursuit of knowledge languages play a significant role. Without language knowledge could be neither recorded nor shared. In order to gain access to as much diverse knowledge as possible one has to be able to understand the respective language it is recorded in. As the language holds much of cultural background information it is important for the knowledge seeker to hold the tool of decoding it. So knowing a second language not solely broadens one’s potential to learn more but allows for a deeper understanding of previously unfamiliar ideas.
