Chihuahuas are the smallest recognized dog breed, named for the Mexican state of Chihuahua, where it was first noted in the mid-19th century! Chihuahuas remained a rarity until the early 20th century,and the American Kennel Club did not register a Chihuahua until 1904. My family has a total of 9 Chihuahuas! We have rescued all kinds of different shape, sizes, and ages of this breed. Their names are Ella, Bonno, Cid, Dexter, Indie, Tia, Tamera, Mickey and Minnie!
