Loving Clouds

Suspended in the Atmosphere

Clouds have always fascinated humans all around the world. For centuries, people have been using clouds to predict the weather. For instance, high wispy cirrus clouds, sometimes called mares’ tails, meant that within 24 hours the weather was going to change. A sky full of white clouds that look like huge balls of cotton meant that the weather was going to be good that day.

But what are clouds? A cloud is a mass of water drops or ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere. Clouds form when water condenses in the sky. The condensation lets us see the water vapor. There are many different types of clouds. Clouds are an important part of Earth's weather and climate.
