The nowaday society is very demanding for a new mom. She needs to
juggle to fit a successful career, a social life, the household and
the foundation of a family in an ever smaller amount of time. She is
expected to prepare for motherhood, to become a mother, to recover
from childbirth and to create emotional bonding with her baby in less
than 16 weeks of maternity leave. The body and mind goes through a
tremendous change after childbirth and deserves time to recover and
adjust to this new life.
In many cultures the birth of a child means the start of
a period of 40 days of recovery and pampering. It’s
called the Sacred Window in the Ayurvedic tradition. The new mom needs
time to care for her newborn and to rest herself. This means for
example staying warm, eating nourishing food, avoid doing chores,
having a support network and doing what makes you happy.
It seems easier said than done: Avoid doing chores with laundry piling
up and preparing nourishing food within 30 minutes between
(breast)feedings is considered a Mission Impossible for the new mom.
No worries, Hôtel Maman is there for you where you
need us the most to make this post-partum memorable.
