Sparkling water is water that contains carbon dioxide, causing its signature carbonation. While it lacks sweetness or any notable flavor, it makes up for this with a piquant mouth-feel.
British doctor and scientist, William Brownrigg, is said to have first created carbonated water in 1740. He precedes several others, including chemist Joseph Priestly and philosopher Henry Cavendish, who later experimented with carbonation.
Priestly once wrote that it brings a “peculiar satisfaction,” which I am sure we can all agree on.
Like sparkling water too?
