A poncho is a garment originally worn in South America, made of a thick piece of woollen cloth with a slit in the middle for the head. Over time, the poncho has had different uses. Gauchos used it as a protection against cold, rain and weeds, and as a sleeping blanket. It was also useful for fights and in battles. Many regions in Argentina are proud to have a typical model, that usually differs from the rest in both clothing materials and designs. Today we can also see them in haute couture parades.
