Forr贸 is a Brazilian partner dance which is danced in a close embrace. It all started with a simple side-to-side step but evolved to the 3 step movement to the front and back that it is now.
As the dance is quite young (developed in the 50's) it was influenced a lot by salsa, lambada, tango, samba and many more dances. This means that new moves and techniques are being created every few years. It also means that because it is influenced by so many other dance styles that everybody can find a style they like within forr贸.
Follower or leader? In forr贸 it does not matter on your gender which role you dance. Learn both over time and experience the full depth of forr贸!

馃幎 The music
The word 'forr贸' is used to describe a number of different music rhythms. The main ones being forr贸 itself, bai茫o, xaxado, arrastape and x么te, which vary between fast and slow. The typical forr贸 ensemble nowadays is an accordion, a zabumba (drum) and a triangle.
As the music varies between fast and slow, forr贸 is one of the few dances where you can have everthing between very calm songs to super fast songs to dance to within one party.

Every person feels different when dancing forr贸. It depends on so many things: your mind, your partner, the party, the music, the atmosphere. You can loose yourself within the motion and free yourself from your usual day - leading or following.
For me, it creates a sensation of pure bliss. Letting my mind go and my body flow to the music is a feeling like no other.
