Floorball is basically ice hockey minus the ice π€·π»ββοΈ. It is fun, fast, safe and inexpensive, requiring only a stick, sneakers, shorts and a t-shirt to play. Teams consist of up to 20 players, with five field players and a goalie on the court a a time in official matches. A floorball goalie wears light padding and a mask but does not have a stick.
Floorball quickly became popular in schools and youth clubs throughout Scandinavia and parts of Europe where in 1986, the International Floorball Federation was founded by the federations of Sweden, Finland, and Switzerland. The sport is known by many names in many different countries -salibandy, innebandy, unihockey - but itβs all simply floorball.
