Hello! I'm Victoria, Welcome to TurnedByTor.
Exclusive Grain Patterns are yet to be revealed!

ABOUT

I am trained in Contemporary Dance and throughout my degree I became interested in the visual arts. Upon graduation I gained an interest in woodturning, using tools such as a lathe to shape wood. I began by creating bowls and bespoke pots and soon realised my love for wooden jewellery which led me to create a small shop called TurnedByTor.

TurnedByTor specialises in hand crafted wooden rings.
During the crafting process the grain patterns in the wood are revealed, each ring has an exclusive grain print, so no two rings are the same!

All woods used come from sustainable sources, fruit woods are typically taken from offcuts during pruning, suitably dried and prepared, so that no wood goes to waste!

THE CRAFTING PROCESS

Within the existing collections, there are several methods to crafting a ring:

ASH WOOD COLLECTION:

Making this ring involves selecting the ash wood and cutting it into small blanks. The blank is then turned by hand on a lathe to the diameter and shape desired. It is then hand painted to the desired colour, sealed and laquered to highlight the unique grain patterns.

STABILISED ASH COLLECTION:

Crafting this ring involves immersing the wooden blanks in dyed cactus juice and placing it into a vacuum chamber for a minimum of 48 hours, before putting the blanks into an oven to cure and then turning them to desired shape and size.
