Nutrition: the importance of eating healthy

Healthy eating

The nutrition is the process by which our body transforms the nutrients and minerals we ingest through food and drink into energy to start the day with vitality. For this reason, a good diet and weekly physical exercise, can help you to live a healthy lifestyle and boost your energy levels. Although the nutritional needs of each person may vary, we should have a balanced diet and include a variety of foods that provide us with different nutrients.

Healthy Eating Pyramid

The nutritional pyramid, also called food pyramid, is a representation of the food groups that a person should eat to maintain a healthy and balanced diet. This pyramid is divided into different extracts according to the type of food and nutrients. Although the recommendation of a daily intake of 55% carbohydrates, 30% fat and 15% protein, vitamins, minerals and fibers has always been emphasized, all this depends on each person and on the physical activity of the day.

6 nutritional tips to improve your health and enjoy your fitness lifestyle

  1. Eat a variety of foods to provide your body with the different nutrients you need. A balance of food groups will be ideal: milk and dairy products, meat, fish, eggs, potatoes, legumes, nuts, vegetables, fruits, cereals, oil. A good combination of them in each meal will be a rich and nutritious contribution.
  2. Combine different ways of cooking. There are different techniques to cook food and the way you choose, can affect the flavour and will also determine the number of calories ingested. Have a look at cooking recipes to get inspired!
  3. By buying seasonal products, you will ensure that the products are fresh, they are grown naturally. Seasonal food is tastier and more nutritious than the food consumed out of the season and that will be noticed in your pocket and in its flavour.
  4. Hydrate yourself to provide your body with the minerals you need. It is recommended to drink 2 liters of liquids a day. Not only water is good, you can drink others such as tea, coffee, lemonade, fruits, even soup.
  5. Keep physically active: physical exercise is vital for a healthy lifestyle, it also helps prevent diseases and improves your mood. Schedule a weekly calendar with different sports such as running, yoga, salsa, walking ... whatever you like.
  6. Do not skip any meal, each meal has its importance. It is recommended to have 5 meals during the day; breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks before meals. Have you ever heard the expression "eat breakfast like a king, have lunch like a prince and have dinner like a prince?" If we think about it, it makes a lot of sense since it is during the day when we use the most energy, therefore, a good breakfast will give us enough energy to start the day with vitality and optimism. Lunch and snacks should be small so as not to interrupt the main meals (fruits or nuts are ideal). Keep in mind there is no single ideal diet!
