I learned to love mountains in Switzerland - coming from a flat
countryside in Finland and having only hiked small mountains in
Lapland, I was amazed by the Alps. While living there, I noticed
that hiking on top of the mountains really took the whole day, even
when you took a cable car and electric bike to cut some time.
In Norway, I was amazed - easy, and more difficult hikes were doable
in just few hours! While the mountains are half the size to the
Swiss Alps, the sceneries are as beautiful as ever. Being able to
hike on the top, admire the 360° views and stroll back, while having
the whole day ahead of you.
Of course, the Alps are a beauty, and nothing can compete with that.
But if you're looking for a hiking destination with variating
difficulty levels, all close by, I would recommend Western Norway
from all my heart.
These pictures are taken by me from towns called Åndalsnes and
Valldal, which are just a few hours drive away from the famous
Geiranger. Fjords and mountains are surrounding these towns, as well
as camping places for visitors. Above you see a mountain called
"Kongen", which means "King". If you wish to see more pictures,
