THE MYSTERY

Who is Banksy?

Nobody knows for certain. Banksy is the pseudonym of an anonymous artist, believed to be from Bristol, England, who rose to fame in the late 1990s. The identity has never been officially confirmed — which is exactly the point.

The work is instantly readable: sharp, satirical stencils about politics, war, consumerism and power, sprayed onto public walls where anyone can see them for free.
