Hi and welcome to the 3am Readers Club where we keep telling ourselves one
more chapter but let's be honest that's not happening with the current
read, is it? If you've found yourself late at night still reading, making
promises of one more chapter, then you're our people!
Maybe your TBR is keeping you up, I know mine is, or maybe you like the quiet time that 3am offers. That beautiful hush where everything is still with the early sounds of the city just waking up. That lull between awake and
falling asleep or maybe something else draws you to late nights.
Regardless of what it might be, I find it's the best time for reading. And I'm not alone. Turns out there's a few of us who are still up reading into the wee hours. If that sounds like you, just count yourself as part of a collective.
I've got over 1,000 books on my TBR yuuuuuupppp. Sounds a bit crazy but there's so many good books out there that I keep adding them to my TBR lists. Yup. Lists as in multiple.
I have lists connected to my library account and over at different reading applications like Storygraph and Goodreads so I always have options.
Did you know that there are different types of reading? I didn't know either till most recently.
The four types are scannng, skimming, intensive, and extensive. All serving a different purpose and are needed as we can use them in various and mixed ways during our own reading. Per Grade University
Knowing the above, I find that I fluctuate between skimming and extensive reading. Through all my readings, the intent starts with extensive reading but either the book loses plot, I'm not invested or it starts to run long and I find myself skimming. 😅 Sorry to those books but I do skim in order to see if I'll keep reading it, as life's too short to read bad books. Especially at 3am. Just know that if you're staying up to read, you're not alone. And it's always 3am somewhere around the world!
