Powerlifting is a strength sport focusing on maximum weight attempts in the squat, bench press, and deadlift. Athletes get three attempts per lift, with the highest valid lift in each added together for a total score. Competitions are organized by weight class and can be "raw" (minimal equipment) or "equipped" (supportive gear).
