The Brahman bull is a breed of cattle that originated from Indian Zebu cattle and was developed in the United States. Known for their distinctive humps, long floppy ears, and loose skin.
Brahman bulls are highly adaptable to hot, humid climates, making them ideal for ranching in regions like South Africa. They typically weigh between 800 to 1000kg, with cows weighing between 450 kg to 650 kg.

Brahman bulls are primarily used for meat production and have contributed to the development of other beef breeds such as Brangus, Beefmaster, Simbrah, and Santa Gertrudis. Their maternal qualities, fertility, and rapid growth make them valuable in both stud and commercial herds. South African breeders, including Bos Blanco and Hooggekraal Farms, continue to focus on superior genetics, sustainability, and animal welfare, exporting Brahman genetics across Africa and internationally.
