Guernsey is one of the Channel Islands in the English Channel near the French coast, and is a self-governing British Crown dependency.

Known for it's stunning beaches like Fermain Bay above and the scenery of its coastal cliffs, the Island is dotted with several thousands of years of fortifications dating from 2000 B.C, the Napoleonic era and World War II. Travel through time with a visit to Hauteville House, the the lavish former home of French writer, Victor Hugo. See Castle Cornet and hear its Noon-Day Gun, a 13th-century harbour fortification in the capital of St. Peter Port. It now contains history and military museums. Further remnants of the German occupation of World War II can be explored in the nearby Underground Hospital. Or you could wander the quiet country lanes where it's as easy to pass a pillbox or find hedge-veg nestled in someone's front garden. Fresh flowers, eggs, Guernsey tomatoes or crafts are just some of the things you might find for sale.

Feeling hungry now? Enjoy a hearty lunch, the freshest salads or an infamous crab sandwich at one of the many beach-side kiosks, cafes and pubs (dinner at a Michelin star restaurant isn't off the cards either.)
