Cats are naturally active at dusk and dawn

It is a common misconception that cats see in black and white. Cats are able to pickup colour and are believed to be trichomats allowing them to see shades of blue and green but struggle with reds and pink. Cats have good night vision due to a high density of rod photoreceptors.
However, they are unable to see in complete darkness.
