Fact 1: T-rex had an incredible bite force. It could
bite with an estimated force of up to 12,000 pounds. This is strong
enough to crush bones like it was dry spaghetti
Fact 2: Their teeth were banana-sized. Each tooth
could be 6–12 inches long, perfect for gripping and slicing
Fact 3: T-rex had one of the best senses of smell
among dinosaurs, its olfactory bulbs (nostrils) were huge, helping it
track prey from far away
Fact 4: Although T-rexes could swallow one human (and
their backpack) in one gulp, they weren't just meat eaters. They may
have been a bone-crusher too, digesting them thanks to extremely
acidic stomach contents
Fact 5: Although they were powerful, most
paleontologists think they couldn't sprint as fast as they're shown in
movies, but fast enough for a 6-ton predator. It's estimated to have
been around 12-18 mph
Fact 6: T-rex babies were tiny compared to adults.
Hatchlings were about the size of turkeys, but they grew extremely
fast - up to 5 pounds per day during their teenage years
Fact 7: It had feathers for insulation, as a baby
(probably!). While adult T-rexes were mostly scaly, the worlds most
fearsome predator may have started life, looking a little cute and
fuzzy
Fact 8: Their forward-facing eyes gave it binocular
vision, better than a hawk, making it superb at spotting movement
Fact 9: Scientists suggest that instead of a
Hollywood roar, imagine a deep, resonant rumble, similar to crocodiles
or large birds. Terrifying… but also a little goofy
Fact 10: Everyone jokes about them, but each arm were
shorter than a toddlers but they could still lift over 400 pounds.
Tiny, yes. Useless? Not at all!
