From Broke to Balanced

Budgeting helped me take control of my money

Budgeting Money

Budgeting is simply managing your money with purpose and discipline. It helps you pay your bills on time, enjoy your wants without guilt, and avoid slipping into debt.

There are a lot of budgeting methods, but my favourite is zero-based budgeting. It simply means giving every dollar you earn a job — nothing goes unaccounted for! It could be: paying bills (e.g. phone), short-term savings (e.g. family trip to amusement park), and long-term savings (e.g. emergency fund).

To make saving fun, start small by adding 1 to 2 savings challenges: $1 Challenge or $5 Challenge. It is a great way to stay motivated while building discipline. Grab your FREE $5 Savings Challenge by clicking the button below!

I have been budgeting for over three years now, but it has not been easy. I struggled at first and did not think I could stick with it. But now, budgeting is a non-negotiable for me. Every dollar I earn, no matter how small, gets assigned to where it belongs.

My budgeting journey made me realize that small amounts really do add up. Before you know it, you could save over $1,000 in six months for your next vacation 🎉 — or the opposite - you realize you spent over $600 on takeout and Uber in just one month 😳.
