Quilting
My favourite hobby
I've been interested in sewing from a young age. My Great Grandma taught
me to sew very basic stitches with a needle and thread when I was a
child. I spent many years crafting and studying art subjects at college
and university. My creativity eventually led me to a career in the
fashion industry. Whilst I enjoyed my time working in the Fashion
Industry, once this became my job I needed a creative outlet that was
just a hobby. I also have an interest in Interior Design and this is
where I discovered Quilting. Quilting is a craft which has been around
for many years. It involves cutting and sewing various shapes of fabric
(historically scrap fabric) into patterns to create what's known as a
'Quilt Top' This quilt top is then stitched together on top of a layer
of wadding and a backing fabric to create a quilt. I absolutely love
this craft as it is a way for me to express my creativity, sew and be
resourceful with the materials I have to create something beautiful and
useful for the home.
