One of my favourite hobbies

Strength training is focused, progressive work against resistance using barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, machines, bands, or bodyweight to increase how much force your muscles can produce.

For women, it’s especially impactful: it builds muscle and strength, supports healthy body composition, and boosts resting metabolism. Consistent strength work increases bone density (lowering osteoporosis risk), stabilises joints, and improves posture which is key for staying active as we age. It also enhances insulin sensitivity and cardiovascular health, so everyday tasks feel easier. Just as important, getting stronger builds confidence and resilience, tracking the weight you can lift over time is a clear, motivating win.
