To see the Northern Lights, find a location far from light pollution
with a clear northern view during the dark winter months, ideally
between late September and early April, and around midnight. Dress
warmly, be patient as viewing can be unpredictable, and consider using
an aurora forecast app to check the Kp index. While cameras capture the
lights better than the human eye, you can still enjoy them with your
naked eyes after allowing them to adjust to the darkness.
To see the aurora with your phone, you need to find a dark location,
enable a long exposure mode on your camera, and stabilize the phone.
Most phones have a built-in "Night Mode" or "Pro/Manual" mode that
allows you to increase the ISO and adjust the shutter speed for longer
exposures. Mount your phone on a stable surface like a tripod to prevent
blur, disable the flash, and adjust the focus and exposure settings.
