MEZCAL

An Ancestral Spirit

Mezcal is a spirit produced by harvesting, cooking, fermenting, and distilling maguey, or agave, plants. The name Mezcal originates from the Nahuatl language. The Nahuatl metl, meaning agave, and ixca, meaning cooked, gave us the word mexcalli. Mexcalli eventually became mezcal.
