What is the Private Pilot License (PPL)?

My favorite way to move: flying over Illinois

Every flight is a new adventure! I love the freedom of flight with visual flight rules (VFR), the challenge of mastering weather and airspace, and the joy of landing at new airports. Flying in Illinois means skylines and shoreline—navigating around Chicago will keep me sharp once I earn my private pilot's license (PPL). The PPL is the starter certificate that lets me fly for fun with friends and family (no paying passengers), usually under VFR. It’s the key to weekend hops, night flights with the proper training, and exploring new places.
