There are a total of six major categories of tea, each with their own processing methods and flavor profiles.
1. White tea is known as the least processed tea, resulting in a high level of antioxidants. White tea typically
has a floral, fruity, or sweet flavor profile.
3. Yellow tea is the most rare type of tea in the
world, due to its difficult process. The slow oxidation allows for a more
mellow, smooth, and often subtle taste.
4. Oolong Tea requires a longer oxidation process, but results in a more
complex flavor profile. It tends to have either a toasty, floral, or
fruity taste to it.
5. Black tea is the most popular tea in the
world. This tea is fully oxidized, resulting in a dark color
and rich flavor. Black tea is sweet, smoky, or even floral.
6. Dark Tea, also known as fermented tea, is quite unique. It goes
through a fermentation and aging process, leaving an earthy, smoky, and robust flavor.
