The Rock-Hewn Churches of Lalibela, Ethiopia, are a UNESCO World Heritage
site and a testament to the ingenuity of the Zagwe dynasty, who carved
them out of solid rock in the 12th and 13th centuries.
The tiny
village of Lalibela in Ethiopia is home to eleven mysterious churches,
ancient holy sites for Coptic Christians.
