Welcome to
Tweedy's Tutoring, where biology comes alive! Whether
you're tackling the basics of cells or diving into DNA, we've got fun,
engaging resources to help you learn and grow. Perfect for middle and
high school students—or anyone just curious about life science.
Anne Tweedy is a former world-class swimmer and lifelong science
educator with a passion for inspiring young minds. As a high school
senior in 1980, she ranked third in the world in the 400-meter
individual medley and was a leading contender for the U.S. Olympic
team—until the U.S. boycott of the Moscow Games halted her Olympic
dreams. She continued her athletic and academic journey at Stanford
University, competing for the Cardinal swim team and earning a
degree in Human Biology.
After college, Ms. Tweedy poured her energy into the classroom,
spending over 20 years teaching science at Bella Vista High School
in the San Juan Unified School District, where she was named
Teacher of the Year in 2009. In 2015, she took a sabbatical to return to her alma mater,
joining a Stanford University Education Department initiative to
modernize elementary school science curriculum in alignment with
updated state standards.
In June 2024, Ms. Tweedy officially retired from teaching, a
milestone marked by a joyful celebration filled with friends, former
students, and colleagues from every stage of her journey—from her
earliest teaching days to her beloved tenure at Bella Vista and her
final years supporting multiple schools.
Now in retirement, Ms. Tweedy is thrilled to share her love of
biology in new ways and continue inspiring curiosity in the next
generation of learners.
