Considering getting a pet bird? Educate yourself first!
"Parrots have joined the ranks alongside the most discarded, homeless pets. Sadly they're also one of the most misunderstood and underestimated ones. Many people do not realize that, unlike dogs and cats, parrots are not domesticated animals. Parrots are inherently wild, which makes them destructive, messy and noisy companions.
People often underestimate how loud a parrot's call can be. Their calls are designed to be heard miles away, making them shrill and nerve wrecking when confined a human home, both for the owner and the neighbours, increasing the odds of neglect and rehoming.
The additional cleaning, the destrucion of personal property, "sudden" biting and the continual screaming are more than moste people can tolerate. As a result, many parrots are forced to live their entire lives in closets, garages, and basements. It is estimated that the majority of all captive parrots eventually end up in at least five homes before suffering and dying prematurely.
Do your reasearch before you decide to get an exotic pet. Adopt and rescue, report abuse!"
