Hip hop is a cultural movement and musical genre that originated in the South Bronx, New York City, in the 1970s. It's characterized by rhythmic sounds, often built around funk grooves and electronic drum beats, and rapping, a percussive vocal delivery of rhymed poetic speech. Hip hop is more than just music; it's a cultural expression encompassing various art forms like DJing, MCing (rapping), B-boying (breaking), and visual/graffiti art.
