What is a Subarachnoid Hemorrhage?

It is also known as 'SAH'. It is a type of stroke that is caused by a bleeding in the subarachnoid space which is an area between the brain and its surrounding memebrance. This is caused from a ruptured aneurysm, Arteriovenous malformation (AVM) or head injury.

What are the causes of it?

  • Aneruysm
  • A bulge or weakening of an artery wall that ruptures, relseasing blood into the subarachnoid space around the brain

  • Arteriovenous malformation (AVM)
  • An abnormal tangle of arteries and veins The weakened blood vessels can rupture and bleed

  • Traumatic brain injury

    The brain crashes back and forth inside the skull tearing blood vessels

    What are the symptoms?

    Sudden onset of severe headache

    Nausea and vomiting

    Stiff neck

    Phoyophobia

    Seizures

    Loss of consciousness

    Bluured or double vision
