International women's day is celebrated anually on the 8th of march to
recognize women's achievements and advocte for gender equality.
Brief history: 1980: women in New york city protested for better working
conditions, fair wages and voting rights. 1909: The first Nationnal
Women's Day was observed in the U.S. on feburary 28. 1909: The first
National women's day was observed in the US on feburary 28th. 1910: Clara
Zetkin, a german activist, proposed an annual international women's day at
the Socialist international meetiing in copenhagen. 1911: The first
official IWD was celebrated on march 19 in Austria, Denmark, Germany,and
Switzerland. 1913: The date was changed to March 8, which has remained
since. 1975:The united nations officially recognized IWD International
women's year. Today: IWD is a global event celebrating women's
contributions while addressing ongoing gender inequality. Each year, IWD
has a different theme, with governments, organizations, and activist
participating worldwide.
To be a woman is to embody strength, resillence, ad gracein a world
that often underestimates yet continously relies on the power of
women.....
