I Love Nigerian traditional dishes

Especially Amala and Ewedu

Have you ever experienced the sensational taste of the Nigerian Amala and Ewedu which hailed from the ancient city in Ibadan, a western region in Nigeria.Amala, a staple dish in Yoruba cuisine, is a dough-like food made primarily from yam flour, which is carefully stirred into boiling water until it forms a smooth, cohesive mass, typically eaten with rich stews like gbegiri (bean paste) and ewedu (jute leaf soup). Preparing amala requires precise technique to achieve a lump-free consistency, involving a combination of quick stirring and gentle kneading to ensure a soft, pliable dough Amala is best consumed with various kinds of soup like Efo riro (peppered Vegetables), ewedu, gbegiri and beef, fish or chicken stew. Ewedu is one of the vegetables we have massively enriched with calcium useful for the body system. As shown in the picture it is the greenish colured soup accompanied with pepper stew and with gbegiri (soup made from beans). In Nigeria when Ewedu pops up in your thoughts the next thing you think of is a well prepared Amala, and vice versa. Why not try this out whenever you are in Nigeria and feel the enjoyment of a locally made meal which originated from Ibadan.
