Neuroscience is the study of the brain. The brain is a
sophisticated organ made up of numerous neurons, with each neuron
linking to thousands of others. It governs everything from vital tasks
such as breathing and heart rate to complex activities like thought,
memory, and decision-making. The brain is segmented into various areas,
including the cerebral cortex (responsible for higher functions like
reasoning), the cerebellum (which coordinates movement), and the limbic
system (which in involved in processing emotions). Its ability to
reorganize and adapt, known as plasticity, allows it to change
throughout a person’s life.
