Shakespeare's Globe

Making Shakespeare Accessible to All

Located on the banks of the River Thames, Shakespeare's Globe welcomes over 1.25 million visitors a year to its famous wooden 'O'.

Built in 1997 by American playwright and actor Sam Wanamaker, Shakespeare's Globe is a reconstruction of the original Globe theatre, first opened in 1599 and home to many of Shakespeare's productions until it burnt down in 1613.

This season, the Globe will be playing host to many of Shakepeare's classics, including Romeo & Juliet.
