Hiking the Bibbulmun Track is one of the most incredible experiences
I’ve had. Stretching over 1,000 km from Kalamunda to Albany, it takes me
through some of Western Australia’s most breathtaking landscapes—ancient
forests, coastal cliffs, and rugged bushland. Every step immerses me
deeper into the land, offering a sense of freedom and connection that’s
hard to find elsewhere.
The physical benefits are undeniable. Walking for hours
strengthens my legs, joints, and cardiovascular system, while the clean,
fresh air fills my lungs. But the real magic happens in my mind. The
steady rhythm of hiking calms my thoughts, and being surrounded by
nature melts away stress. There’s something about the simplicity of just
walking—no distractions, no rush—that brings incredible mental clarity
and inner peace.
Even more powerful is the connection to
Country. Following the paths once walked by the Noongar people, I feel
deeply linked to the history and spirit of this land. The towering karri
trees, granite outcrops, and wild ocean windsremind me of how small yet
connected I am to nature. Hiking the Bibbulmun Track isn’t just a
physical challenge—it’s a journey of respect, appreciation, and
belonging.
