My name is Mereane Silva, welcome to my Personal Website.
The propose of this website is to give you some information about what is
Geophysics (in a simple way) and for what is it used for.
Geophysics is the science that uses physical principles and phenomenous to study and analyse the Earth properties
and its surrounding atmosphere. As examples of earth physical properties used in Geophysics we have:
Density, Resistivity, Condutivity and others.
In research, Geophysics is an understanding of the internal structure and evolution of the Earth, earthquakes,
the ocean and many other physical phenomena.
The continued expansion in the demand for metals of all kinds and the enormous increase in the use of
petroleum products since the turn of the century have led to the development of many geophysical techniques
of ever-increasing sensitivity for the detection and mapping of unseen deposits and structures.
Advances have been especially rapid since World War II because of major improvements in instrumentation and the
widespread application of the digital computer in the processing and interpretation of geophysical data.

About me
I am a Geophysicist with more than 10 years experience in Geophysical Data Acquisition, Processing and Imaging.
At the begining of my carreer, I have been working with mineral prospection, more specificly, with
Geophysical Aerosurveys after that, I moved to Marine Seismic operations for petroleum prospection and
I am still working on this area.
Another good thing about this job is that I´ve travelled a lot and I visited more than 16 countries.
