Genealogy is the study of families, family history, and the tracing of their lineages. Genealogists use oral interviews, historical records, genetic analysis, and other records to obtain information about a family and to demonstrate kinship and pedigrees of its members. The results are often displayed in charts or written as narratives. According to USA Today genealogy is currently the second most popular hobby in the United States. What once was a hobby pursued by royalty and the ruling class has become one that average people can easily partake in. DNA testing has become increasingly popular as the technology has become more accessible and affordable, allowing people to explore their genetic heritage in ways that weren't possible before.
