Healing Checkpoint believes the way to healing isn't always through traditional talk therapy. We believe we can heal in creative and fun ways. We are two Mental Health Professionals who use both video games and table top games to promote healing and change. Healing Checkpoint uses Tabletop Role Playing Games, like Dungeons & Dragons, to help achieve therapeutic goals and acheive healing. The applied use of Table Top Role Playing Games helps foster relationships, build social skills, engage in emotions in safe ways, process life events, and much more. Best of all, IT'S FUN! Games used in these types of groups include: D&D , Monster of the Week, Belonging Outside Belonging, Journaling games, Kids on Bikes , and many more!
Healing Checkpoint acknowledges the importance of having spaces to call our own and one of the groups offered is specifically for the Queer Community. Healing Checkpoint offers family therapy for families in need of extra support. We believe these groups provide a creative and safe way for families to engage in relationships when difficulties arise. Healing Checkpoint acknowledges that families can look different and defines a family in the way you define your own family: couples with or without children, polyamrous families, and friend groups. Healing Checkpoint offers Therapeutic Gaming Services to help with grief and loss. Gaming can be a powerful tool for processing grief and loss and any age. These groups may process illness, death, loss, and dying with people. This group is offered for individuals or family units. To learn more about how Healing Checkpoint uses TTRPGs in an applied manner, check out The Bodhana Group.
Due to the risk of COVID, groups will be offered via Telehealth using HIPAA compliant services. Healing Checkpoint follows MN state guidelines and will begin offering in person groups once it becomes safe to do so.
