The practice of archery holds significant historical and cultural importance across many cultures. Women have long held integral roles in this ancient and revered sport and martial art. Archeresses can be found in the mythological stories of cultures dating back to ancient times. The Egyptions had Neith, Goddess of War and Hunting. The Greeks had Artemis, Goddess of Hunting and Atalanta, a famous mortal huntress. The Norse had SkaĆ°i, Goddess of Winter and Hunting. There have been many other historical and quasi-historical legendary women famed for their skills with the bow.
