Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice is a gothic horror novel that explores the (after) life of Louis de Pointe du Lac, a vampire who recounts his centuries-long existence to a reporter. Transformed into a vampire by the charismatic yet morally ambiguous Lestat de Lioncourt, Louis wrestles with his conscience as he navigates the darkness of immortality and his desperation to hold onto his humanity. The story features themes of loneliness, existential dread, and the human longing for meaning. This novel is the first book in the thirteen part series, The Vampire Chronicles. Inspired by the literature, a movie and series adaptation have been created.
