John William Coltrane (September 23, 1926 – July 17, 1967) was an American jazz saxophonist, clarinettist and composer.
Working in the bebop and hard bop idioms early in his career, Coltrane helped pioneer the use of modes and was at the
forefront of free jazz.
With a discography that pushed the boundaries of jazz music into new terrorities, John Coltrane
left us with a rich musical heritage that awaits to be discovered by younger generations.
