That's what sewing represents to me. Clothing has always fascinated me. As a child, I would craft tiny outfits for paper dolls (yes, that was a thing!) and sew clothes for my actual dolls. I even curated a scrapbook filled with magazine cutouts of garments that caught my eye—a collection of inspiration, long before I understood its significance. Life, however, led me in a different direction, and sewing faded into the background. Even though I still admired designers and their collections from afar. A few years ago, fueled by the social media, I signed up for a sewing class—and it was transformative. It reignited a deep joy I didn’t know I was missing. But the question lingered:
The world is already flooded with mass-produced garments, bought in abundance, and discarded just as quickly—eventually hidden from view, often shipped overseas to quietly disappear. So isn't sewing even more just adding up to the problem?
