The University of Tehran is a Collegiate university and the
oldest and most prominent Iranian
university located in Tehran, Iran. Based on its historical,
socio-cultural, and political pedigree, as well as its research and
teaching profile, UT has been nicknamed
The Mother University [of Iran].
In international rankings, UT has been ranked as one of the best
universities in the Middle East and is among the top universities of the
world. It is also the premier knowledge producing institute among all
OIC countries. Tehran University of Medical Sciences is in the 7th
ranking of the Islamic World University Ranking in 2021. The university
offers more than 111 bachelor's degree programs, 177 master's degree
programs, and 156 PhD. programs. Many of the departments were absorbed
into the University of Tehran from the Dar al-Funun established in 1851
and the Tehran School of Political Sciences established in 1899.
School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), initiated in 1934, now offers undergraduate, masters, and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Information Technology. It is the pioneer of all higher education centers in the field of electrical and computer engineering nationwide. With more than 2000 students, 84 faculty members, 80 research Laboratories, and three centers of Excellence, the ECE is the largest school in University of Tehran. Both undergraduate and graduate programs are consistently rated as the leading programs in the country. Our students associate with world-class faculty who are actively engaged in research. The School of ECE faculties earn teaching ratings that are among the best in the College of Engineering, and in the University of Tehran. Graduate and undergraduate students have a variety of opportunities to practice research in different research laboratories in the department.
